Planned
prevention or reduction of pollution is cheaper than rectifying
after the event. In the UK we dispose of around 20 million
tonnes of refuse each year, 90% of this ends up in landfill
sites. We use approximately 750,000 tonnes of office paper
and only 10% of this is recycled. It therefore makes sense
to minimise waste and pollution to reduce long term costs,
e.g. using recycled stationery and toner cartridges.
Ardent Office Solutions stock and supply a wide range of office
supply and stationery products, many of which are classed
as environmentally friendly green office products. A large
percentage of our own brand products fall into this category
either having a recycled content or being made from 100% recycled
material.
According to current statistics, only 10% of empty printer
cartridges are being recycled - this means that 90% of these
items are simply discarded and end up in landfill sites. As
well as taking up room in our already-limited landfill sites,
it can take up to 1.5 litres of oil to produce a new toner
cartridge from scratch. Clearly, this is bad news for the
environment!
Fortunately, there's a simple solution to it all - most cartridges
can be recycled. We have partnered with various manufacturers
who clean, repair and resell the cartridges we send them,
saving on valuable space in landfill sites and also on oil
reserves. In the last six months alone, over 50 million litres
of oil have been saved due to the efforts of people recycling
their cartridges.
